The Romanian word "tau" means in fact "mountain lake" and is in general 
considered as being of Hungarian origin: tó = lake (a word of Finno-
Ugrian origin, with cognates in other Finno-Ugrian languages).
The "Tauti" village name is in fact a plural of "taut(u)", occuring 
also as a surname (Tautu), and is seemingly also of Hungarian origin: 
tót = Slovakian.
