Old Norse has a similar construction, including examples from sources
presumed not to be translations from Latin: 'eptir hann dauðan' "after
his death"; sízt mína sonu dauða "since the death of my sons"--lit.
"after him dead" (acc.) and "since my sons dead (acc.)".

This will come in handy when we get round to translating the writings
of a certain well known physicist into Gothic.

I second those thanks! Very interesting. Mahti-swinþa sounds
reasonable to me. The only other alternative I'd encountered was the
idea that it was related to Celtic math "good".
