The University of North Carolina Wilmington invites applications for the position of Director for Centro Hispano. The Director reports to the Associate Provost for Institutional Diversity and collaborates in achieving the university’s goal of embracing and enhancing diversity. The Director is responsible for the supervision, management, and maintenance of programs in Centro Hispano, and serves as a resource for information synthesis/consultation on the development, implementation and assessment of programs. These programs are designed to address the academic, cultural and developmental needs and enhance the overall university experience of students and promote awareness of and appreciation for the large variety of Hispanic cultures. The Director is also responsible for teaching one academic course per semester and serves on task forces and committees across the university and regional community.
Minimum qualifications include a master’s degree; a minimum of three years of role related experience including but not limited to college level teaching, operation of a cultural center/facility, organizational leadership, and/or supervisory experience. Candidates must have a demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, staff and faculty, including active collaboration with higher education administrators and community members. The successful candidate must have experience working with a wide range of racial/ethnic groups as well as other underrepresented populations- particularly having experience serving Hispanic students. Strong interpersonal, written and oral skills are essential, including English and Spanish. Preferred qualifications in addition to those listed above include earned doctorate or significant work toward doctorate in an area relevant to Hispanic or Latin American studies, and/or the mission/services of Centro Hispano. Leadership I experience !
 managing an advisory board and/or community organization dedicated to the Hispanic community.
