The Fifth Annual Conference of the Japanese Society for Language Sciences
will be held in July 5-6, 2003 at Kobe University Rokkodai Campus,
Centennial Hall (Shindai Kaikan) and Takikawa Memorial Hall.

Plenary Speakers:
  Catherine E. Snow(Harvard Graduate School of Education)
    “Learning Words at Home and at School, in L1 and and L2”
  Masayoshi Shibatani(Rice University)
    “Form and Function in Functional Linguistics”

Invited Symposium:
  Discussant Catherine E. Snow(Harvard Graduate School of Education)
    “What Individuals Learn from Participation in Different Kinds of
    Social Structures: Multiparty Discourse, Peer Discourse"”

Twenty-seven papers and twenty posters will be presented at the conference.
