The LINGUIST List strongly encourages employers to use
non-discriminatory standards in hiring policy. In particular we urge
that employers do not discriminate on the grounds of race, ethnicity,
nationality, age, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. However, we
have no means of enforcing these standards.

Job seekers should pay special attention to language in ads regarding
employment requirements and are encouraged to consult our international
employment page http://linguistlist.org/jobnet.html.

This page has been set up so that people can report on the employment
standards of various countries.

We have recently been awarded a research grant from the Scottish
Executive to investigate prosodic abilities of children with autism,
using Wells and Peppe's PEPS-C battery. As a result, we require a
individual with an honours degree in Speech and Language Therapy,
Linguistics or Psychology to work on this exciting new project. You
will be primarily concerned with the day-to-day operation of the
project: recruiting participants; administering psychometric and
prosodic assessments; developing therapy strategies; preparing papers,
presentations and workshops. Clinical experience of children with
autism and administering standardised tests is desirable but not
essential.

The post offers opportunities for teaching and part time registration
for a higher degree and is suitable for job share.
