We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

In addition to posting a summary, we'd like to remind people that it
is usually a good idea to personally thank those individuals who have
taken the trouble to respond to the query.

Subject: New words from the Internet

I an writing a dissertation for my MA on new words of the Internet,
such as netiquette, broadband, firewall, and so on. As these terms are
quite new, many are not included in the OED, and I am trying to
ascertain either the etymology of these terms or the year in which
they were coined, with illustrative example sentences. I have
consulted Wired magazine for citations. Where should I look for
authority on year of coining/etymology and other references for
suitable illustrative sentences?
