The LINGUIST List strongly encourages employers to use
non-discriminatory standards in hiring policy. In particular we urge
that employers do not discriminate on the grounds of race, ethnicity,
nationality, age, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. However, we
have no means of enforcing these standards.

Job seekers should pay special attention to language in ads regarding
employment requirements and are encouraged to consult our international
employment page http://linguistlist.org/jobnet.html.

This page has been set up so that people can report on the employment
standards of various countries.

Rank of Job: Assistant Professor
Specialty Areas: Phonetics

Description:

The Department of Linguistics at the Ohio State University seeks
candidates for a tenure-track position in phonetics at the rank of
Assistant Professor, starting Autumn 2005. The area of specialization
within phonetics is open, although preference will be given to
candidates with broader interests in spoken language processing,
including sociophonetics and psycholinguistics -- that is, to

of the department in ways that will promote collaborative advising and
research across the department and the larger linguistics community at
the Ohio State University. The successful candidate must have a
record of excellence in teaching and research, and have completed the
Ph.D. by the time of the appointment.

The new assistant professor will be expected to be active in research
and publication, to meet standard departmental teaching requirements
and to perform service duties as required by the department and the
university.

Review of applications will begin on November 15, 2004 and will
continue until the position is filled. Interviewing for the position
will begin at the LSA annual meeting in January 2005.

Search Committee.

The Ohio State University is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action
