GMS-TESOL FORUM on 'Better English for Better Regional Understanding' at Mae Fah
Luang University, Chiang Rai, Thailand September 16th-18th, 2005

Organized by Mae Fah Luang University (MFLU), in cooperation with Kenan
Institute Asia (KIAsia) 
Supported by US Agency for International Development (USAID) 

Long known as a region of abundant natural resources, the Greater Mekhong
Subregion countries, namely, Cambodia, Laos PDR, Myanmar, Thailand and China's
Yunnan Province, are now playing a more active role in regional economy and
human-resources development  Effective communication within and between these
countries of cultural and linguistic diversity inevitably requires a 'lingua
franca'--English.

To meet this regional demand for English-language proficiency enhancement, the
School of Liberal Arts, Mae Fah Luang University, in cooperation with the Kenan
Institute Asia and the United States Agency for International Development
(USAID), will jointly stage its first international GMS-TESOL Forum which
welcomes multidisciplinary scholars' and researchers' presentations of works
pertaining--but not limited--to the following areas:

1.	English as an international language 
2.	Information technology in English-language teaching and self-access learning 
3.	Cross-cultural communication 
4.	Second-language acquisition and foreign-language learning 5.	Teaching and
learning strategies 
6.	English for specific purposes 
7.	Material design and development

Interested persons are invited to submit via e-mail MS Word-formatted abstracts
of no more than 200 words in English within Wednesday 31 August 2005 to the
