Subject: Theory to Analyze Failed Humor

E-mail this message to a friend:
Hi, my name is Trisha, i'm learning English Language & Literature in Linguistic Majority.

I'm currently in the middle of doing my thesis. It's about Failed Humor in Stand Up Comedy.

What i'm trying to analyze is the reason of why the joke fail or why the audience remain silent.

Is there any relevant/specific theory that i can use to analyze this kind of topics? If yes, what is it?

Please help, i'm kind of confuse what theory that suit my research.

Thank you.
