Description:

Pending budgetary approval, the Department of Linguistics at the University of
Pittsburgh seeks applications for one position of Lecturer in English as a
Second Language. The initial contract begins on September 1, 2016 and runs
through April 30, 2017.

Qualification Requirements: PhD in Applied Linguistics or TESOL. At least
three years post-MA teaching experience, with a requirement for expertise in
English for Academic Purposes. Administrative experience, expertise in
testing, and experience preparing International Teaching Assistants is an
advantage. Some overseas teaching experience is also desirable. The position
will involve responsibility for teaching 2-3 classes in the Department’s
for-credit ESL programs per semester, with contact hours not exceeding 9 hours
per week. The administrative duties will include supervising some ESL course
curricula, instruction of ITAs and supervision of part-time instructors. The
person will also be asked to assist with other smaller administrative tasks,
including test administration and placement.
