Description:

The University of Konstanz has been successful in the German Excellence
Initiative since 2007.

The Department of Linguistics invites applicants for a Postdoctoral Research
Position (salary scale 13 TVL/65%) 

Applications are invited for a 3-year 65% postdoctoral or doctoral research
position in the project "Visual Analytics and Linguistics for Interpreting
Deliberative Argumentation (VALIDA)". The project is part of the Priority
Program "Robust Argumentation Machines (RATIO; http://www.spp-ratio.de/home/).

The position is available as of October 1, 2018 and involves the
identification, analysis and automatic extraction of linguistic cues for an
NLP application that supports the analysis of deliberative political
argumentation. The NLP researcher will work closely with a researcher from
Visual Analytics in order to develop a visualization system that will provide
an interactive explorative access to the underlying data.

Requirements:
Applicants should hold a PhD (if applying for the postdoctoral option) or an
MA/MSc (if applying for the doctoral option) in computational linguistics or
linguistics or a related field. Applicants should be well versed in linguistic
analysis and possess programming skills. A specialization in
semantics/pragmatics is an asset.
