Job Location: Stockholm, Sweden
Web Address: https://www.su.se/romklass/
Job Title: Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor in Spanish
Job Rank: Associate Professor; Senior Lecturer

Specialty Areas: Applied Linguistics; Ling & Literature

Required Language(s): Spanish (spa)
                      Romance

Description:

The holder is expected to conduct teaching, supervision and examination at the
undergraduate, advanced and (if necessary) doctoral levels. The department is
looking for a person with a wide teaching experience within the subject of
Spanish and with a research focus within one of the above-mentioned leading
research areas. Furthermore, the department has a strong need to strengthen
the competence in management and administration. Therefore, it is important
for this employment that the applicant has documented qualifications as a
director of studies or equivalent management assignments. The holder is
expected to work for a good interaction across the Romance languages at the
department and conduct research and initiate and lead research projects,
actively work for external funding for the department's research and stay
informed about the developments in the current leading research area within
the framework of the employment. The holder is also expected to contribute to
the development of new courses across the subject boundaries within the main
area of Romance languages.

Eligible applicants for the position are those who have demonstrated and
documented pedagogical skills (mainly at university level) within the subject
and have paid a doctorate in Spanish (or equivalent foreign degree).
Documented very good skills in spoken and written Spanish at a high scientific
level is required. Holders who do not master Swedish or other Nordic languages
should be able to document such skills in English as are required for the
collaboration within the department, faculty, university and society as a
whole. The applicant must have the ability to collaborate as well as the
ability and suitability otherwise required to fulfill the duties well.

In the appointment of qualified applicants, special emphasis is placed on
pedagogical and administrative skills, as well as strong emphasis on
scientific skills. When assessing the pedagogical skills, special emphasis
will be placed on planning, implementation, development, research basis and
evaluation of teaching and supervision and examination at the undergraduate
and advanced level in the subject of Spanish. Experience in teaching,
supervision and examination in postgraduate education is an advantage. When
assessing the administrative skills, special emphasis will be placed on
experience as a director of studies or equivalent and management experience.
The scientific skills must have been demonstrated through the results of their
own research in the relevant research area. The skills must be well documented
in a way that makes it possible to assess the quality of both the pedagogical,
the administrative and the scientific activities. Furthermore, applicants must
demonstrate documented good collaborative skills as well as the ability to
interact with the surrounding society, nationally and internationally, the
ability to inform about research and development work, and the ability to
initiate and implement national and international research collaborations.
Merit is also documented competence in other Romance languages offered at the
department (French, Italian, Portuguese).
