Description:

We invite applications for two three-year PhD positions in the ERC research
project LeibnizDream, Compressor Group, PI Artemis Alexiadou, starting in the
fall of 2021, (www.leibnizdream.eu). Pay is at 65% of E13 TV-L HU payment
scale.

You are expected to carry out research in one of the following areas of
morpho-syntax/semantics:
- The expression of causation and agency
- Of motion events
- The binary connectives
- Negative concepts such as exclusion, antonyms, and negation
- Quantificational concepts including genericity and distributivity
- Dependencies most frequently analyzed as variable binding (wh-questions,
relative clauses, degree clauses)

You are expected to work with experts on morpho-syntax, language acquisition
and semantics, which aim to design and evaluate cross-linguistic acquisition
studies to test the Meaning First view of grammar the project is based on. The
comparative experiments are carried out across up to 50 different languages in
collaboration with partners across the globe following the specification of
the project grant. 

Requirements:
- Completed University degree (M.A.) in Linguistics
- Expertise in morphosyntactic crosslinguistic investigations
- Expertise in bilingualism or sign languages
