Subject: Looking 4 English/German speakers with different accents - 10 minutes/payed

We are looking for adult speakers (all genders, between the age of 20-50) who
can produce specific accents to help us create first, audio and then later
potentially audio-visual recordings for our experiment. We are happy to
reimburse speakers with up to 60 € for their time in addition to their travel
expenses.

Accents: UK: Polish/Bengali/Jamaican/North England accented English, e.g.
Birmingham
Germany: Turkish/Polish/Italian/Arabic accented German, Swabian/Franconian/Low
German

Task: First, speakers will be asked to (audio) record themselves presenting
scripted stances on e.g. gender & environmental policies (10 minutes). In a
potential second task, we will arrange audio-visual recordings of speakers
which will last around an hour.
The audio of the recordings will be used without modifications, the video will
give rise to the creation of avatars (i.e. we will map people’s facial
expressions on to avatars without retaining any visual similarity to the
speakers themselves).
Recording will take place in autumn/winter 2022 depending on speakers’
availability.

Our project (“Perception of Political Charisma in Low Status speakers”) aims
to investigate the influence of accented speech and appearance on individuals’
charisma in the political context. More info on the project:
