Fully-funded ESRC WGSSS Studentships in Linguistics and Bilingualism

The Linguistics and Bilingualism Pathway of the Wales Graduate School
for the Social Sciences (WGSSS) is delighted to offer fully funded
WGSSS (ESRC DTP) PhD studentships starting in October 2024.

The studentship funded by the ESRC covers tuition fees, an annual
tax-free living stipend of in line with UKRI minimum rates (currently
£18,622) and includes access to a Research Training Support Grant.

If you have a disability, you may be entitled to a Disabled Students’
Allowance (DSA) on top of your studentship.

Prospective students can be based at any of the constituent units of
the pathway
 - School of English, Communication and Philosophy, Cardiff University
 - School of Welsh, Cardiff University
 - School of Culture and Communication, Swansea University
 - Department of Linguistics, English Language and Bilingualism,
Bangor University
 - Department of Psychology, Bangor University
and are invited to propose a research topic for doctoral study in the
language-related areas of expertise of staff at the above academic
units.

Broadly, these areas include research that addresses
bilingualism/multilingualism and/or the structure, meaning and use of
language in linguistics, psycho- and sociolinguistics, psychology,
sociology, language technology and education. Research interests of
