Position Functions and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, each essential duty and
responsibility must be performed satisfactorily.  Reasonable

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
 - Implement QFI’s research agenda.
 - Manage officer and/or associate level research staff.
 - Collaborate with key partners on research including advisors,
universities, grantees, etc.
 - Present at national and international conferences.
 - Composing & writing content for a variety of outlets.
 - Liaising closely with the Programs Department to identify research
opportunities and integrate findings and recommendations into QFI’s
program design and delivery.
 - Coordinating with the Outreach & Communications Department to
inform QFI’s outreach, messaging, and dissemination of content.
 - Work with Finance and Operations on the development and management
of sponsored and non-sponsored research budgets.
 - Coordinate QFI’s monitoring and evaluation process.
 - Stay current on research related to Arabic language and teaching,
multilingualism, & related topics; Being evidence-informed on key
issues, methodologies, and published insights.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
 - Demonstrated experience as a teacher or a role in a school /
education system.
 - Proven track record in conducting research related to teaching and
/ or teaching of language(s) / Arabic, at the primary or secondary
school levels.
 - Strong qualitative and mixed methods skills.
 - An interest in K-12 education policy at various levels and a
passion to improve education for all students.
 - Excellent oral and written communication skills, especially to
deliver research findings in compelling and easy to understand
messaging.
 - Strategic thinker
 - Strong team player who also works well independently.
 - Commitment to QFI’s mission and values.
 - Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with
diverse stakeholders and
 - Ability to multi‐task and work flexibly and creatively within a
fast‐moving, changing, and complex environment.
 - Extremely detail oriented & demonstrates initiative.

Requirements
Education & Experience
 - Minimum four-year degree in foreign languages, language teaching,
world or heritage language education, language acquisition, bilingual
education, Arabic, applied linguistics, linguistics, statistics,
psychology, international relations, global affairs, or political
science.
 - Minimum five years of experience in an academic research
organization or university using quantitative research methods and
working with multiple data sets on issues related to education.
 - Minimum five years managing staff.
 - Proficiency in both written and spoken Arabic at Intermediate or
Advanced levels on ACTFL scale. (Knowledge of a local dialect in
addition to Modern Standard Arabic.)
