The following article was published in todays (30 Sept) Volkskrant.  It
might be of interest to the List.

"Het dagelijks provinciebestuur van Zeeland gaat een commissie in het
leven roepen die moet gaat onderzoeken of het Zeeuws als streektaal kan
worden erkend.
Er is al geruime tijd overleg tussen de Zeeuwse Vereniging voor
Dialectonderzoek en de Stichting NOE over de erkenning van het Zeeuws in
het kader van het Europees Handvest voor minderheidstalen.
De commissie moet gaan kijken of het Zeeuws aan een aantal voorwaarden
voldoet, waarna verslag kan worden uitgebracht aan de werkgroep taal- en
dialectwetenschappen."
