Subject: Monasrchs and their realms

Re Roger's comment: I don't think any English speaker would use "Belgians"
for "Belgae". I certainly wouldn't.

Regarding "Bundesrepublik Deutschland" at frontiers:

1. This phrase contains the word "Deutschland". "Republique Francaise" does

not so obviously say "France".

2. "Bundesrepublik Deutschland" or "BRD" is commonly used within Germany
outside official circles, as is the use of "Bund" to indicate the country,
as in "bundesweit".

3. The idea that Germany is a Federation is politically very important for
historical reasons which have nothing to do with the Cold War.
