I agree with Ian's interpretation here - it's the same in Mainland Scots
except I've never heard "loan" used, it's always "len".

> 'Borrae' is unfamiliar to me in 'broad' Ulster Scots.

It doesn't occur in everyday speech because in Scots it means to borrow
something formally, eg when the borrower puts up collateral or signs a
guarantee.
