I don't think there's any need to speculate about this. Jakobsen was
confident that he could identify, from the Norn vocabulary in modern
Shetlandic (not only from remnants of Norn per se) the actual areas of
Norway which Shetland was colonised from. Also, the word _misgloem_
would suggest that the Norn word for 'forget' was a varient of 'gloema',
'gleyma' and similar forms in the various Nordic languages.
