> .... replaced, for a few days, with 3 other songs, 2 in Dutch, one in
Limburgish. This time the songs are "kitchy", but still very popular in
Northern Belgium.

I replaced these songs about "towers and bells" with 3 others,
for just a few days.

All these "wma"-format sound files deal with the "dialog" between
soloist and group in songs from the Belgian area.

1. URL http://www.euro-support.be/temp/iverrijn.wma
An old street song from the Southern Netherlands
(in Dutch with a Southern coloration)

track 20 (of 24) "'k Kwam lestmaal iver den Rijn"
from CD "'t Kliekske, De Zavelboom" Eufoda 1131

The group mainly repeats and gives virtually no complementary
information.
It's role is limited since the flute tunes give an additional
intermezzo.

2. URL http://www.euro-support.be/temp/17jaar.wma

An other old street song from the Southern Netherlands
(in Dutch with a Southern coloration)

track 13 (of 22) "Een meisje van 17 jaar)
from CD "'t Kliekske, In 't staminee", Eufoda 1150
(a "staminee" is a Southern word for a bar)

The soloist just starts the storyline, the group completes.

3. URL http://www.euro-support.be/temp/societe.wma

Finally a song in Picard, a Romance variety of Northern France (and
South-Western Belgium)

track 5 (of 17) "In a fondé eune société"
from CD "Les Capenoules ... avec Jack Defer et sin grind orquesse, vol.
1, Du plaiji pindint eun' heure avec Les Capenoules", Disques Déesse
293-2

This set-up is exceptional: the group takes the lead, the solist
complements, and this gives an extraordinary "dramatical" effect.

Regards,

Roger

I believe that this site is rather recent (at least, I haven't run
across it before).

www.proel.org/alfabetos.html

It has detailed information and examples of dozens upon dozens of
writing systems worldwide including those of interest within our
groups. The text is in Castilian ("Spanish", if you prefer!).
