Subject: New language resources

Dear sir or madam,

I should like to bring under your attention a new site with language
resources that might of some use for visitors of your site.

Majstro (http://www.majstro.com) is a free on-line translation dictionary
that supports many languages, especially English, Dutch, Esperanto, French,
German and Portuguese (those are the languages whose vocabulary tables
contain more than 10.000 words). It has also modest size vocabulary tables
for several European minority languages (Frisian, Faeroese, Catalan,
Scottish Gaelic)

The dictionary some quite useful features:

- The user interface is available in English, Dutch and Esperanto.

- The same language can be used as source and destination language for
finding synonyms.

- Virtual keyboards can be used to enter characters that are not found on a
particular user's keyboard (requires a JavaScript enabled browser)

- The SQL wildcards _ (any character) and % (any string of characters) can
be used to find words that match a specific pattern.

- Many alternative spellings and frequent mis-spellings are correctly
interpreted (mainly with English, Dutch and German words).

- Words that are returned after a translation request can be submitted to
Google, AltaVista or HotBot to find documents in which they occur. Known
alternative spellings are automatically submitted as well and work is now
underway to have plural forms of English, Dutch, French and Esperanto words
included too.

Also expected in the near future is the implementation of a parser that can
reduce English and Dutch conjugated and inflected words to their citation
forms before they are passed to the translator (This parser does already
exists for the Ergane dictionary (a freeware application for Windows) but
the code has to be converted from Visual Basic to PHP before it can be used
by Majstro).

Yours sincerly,

Gerard van Wilgen
