Since it seems to be free-for all griping time right now, I'm eager not to
miss the moment and vent my two chief gripes about violations of the English
language:

1) "I like to lay on the sofa and watch TV" - even heard in song titles such
as "Lay down, Sally" and "Lay lady lay".
I don't think I have to explain that one - let me only mention that I've
never, ever found an egg on the sofa after these people got up.

2) This one really hurts, and I almost never see it applied correctly
(except on this forum not so long ago): "It didn't used to be this way", or
"I didn't used to like her".
How can this not even sound "funny" to those who say that instead of "didn't
use to"?
