Criostoir,

Just go by what people actually write and we'll all be
friends! I never mentioned 'bad' or 'wrong', and would
never do so. Thanks for your note on this.

Unwittingly perhaps you've come up with the other
example I was coming to - the reflexive form used as
direct or oblique personal pronoun. Likewise, where
this would be marked 'incorrect' in Standard English,
it is a perfectly normal and acceptable way of
providing emphasis in informal writing and speech.

It is, of course, particularly well-known in Ireland,
where additionally it is very common to use the
third-person reflexive form to refer to someone of
importance - 'Is himself [the man of the house] in?',
'Herself [The wife, Mother] wouldn't like me doing
that.'
