Tom Byro asked about information regarding Ethnic cleansing in Eastern
Germany (or what was then considered Germany). There are some materials I
can very much recommend; all are available in amazon.de:

Die große Flucht. Das Schicksal der Vertriebenen. By Guido Knopp
This book accompanied a five-part TV documentary, "Die große Flucht", which
was very well done and quite impressive. It is also available on VHS video
at Amazon.

Die Vertriebenen. Hitlers letzte Opfer. By Erik K. Franzen and Hans Lemberg
This, too, accompanied a well-done three-part TV documentary which is also
available on video at Amazon.

Tom also wrote:

Oh dear. AUTHORIZED to execute people? Those were very different times and
I'm afraid that no authorization was needed whatsoever. German authorities
had declared most other ethnicities less-than-human years before that, and
now the favour was returned (although, as usual, it was hardly ever the
actual perpetrators who suffered). And the guidelines to determine ethnicity
probably very much depended on how well your neighbours liked you, or how
badly someone wanted your house.

Hope the above information helps.
