Chris,

The issue of Scots and the Charter has most certainly
not gone unnoticed!

The UK's report on the 'resolute actions' taken so far
is a disgrace for Ulster Scots and even worse for
Scots in Scotland.

Having said that, I would counter that this is not
entirely the fault of officialdom. Scots activists on
both sides of the Sheuch only ever seem to unite when
it comes to conjuring up conspiracy theories as to why
nothing is done for them, otherwise they are always
divided, even on how to define the language. Activists
for the Gaelics in Scotland and NI have made serious
mistakes too, but they have at least been able to
present a united front in many cases, and I certainly
would not begrudge them what successes they have had
so far.

The USRC (usrc.ultonia.com) is currently lobbying the
administration in NI with constructive advice on how
to make progress focusing on the need for professional
language development, and the need for officials
themselves to receive training on what (Ulster) Scots
actually is! They cannot deal with something if they
can't be sure what it is.

But we maun aye tak tent: Unit we stannds, divid we
faas!
