Hi Dan,
In Flemish we know the word 'krok' (krook/kreuk).
It means a wrong crease in a cloth, a fold in a paper or a carpet. A
branch can have a 'krok', even a ditch or a street can have a 'krok'.
So 'krok'= a curve of something that is/has cracked.
It is related to the Dutch words 'kraak/kreuk'.
