Cheers! I try tae uise Scots as much as Ah kin, but it kin git gie herd gin
thers nae modren Scots equivalent fur "contextual", so Ah kin git a wee bit
concious ah tha artifeecial "feel" tae whit Ah scrieve. Gie sad that a guid
Borders lad as tae sit wi a dictinar tae write a wee email sik as this
(there's yin - whit sall Ah scrieve fur "email"? Kind oh similar tae tha
debate aboot loanwords in French.) Ye can say tha tha's yin oh tha guid
things aboot Scots - it's "plastic" naitur, wi Inglis wurds drapped in wi
nae bother. Aye weill, Ah wid huv hud a livin, vibrant langage gin history
hud been a wee bit kinder. Sik a thing as langage is pert oh whit maks up
"you", an it's no something tae be abandoned easily. Tha's why things sik as
Sandy Fleming's ScotsText are sae important, and why Ah joined this leet.

Oniewise, glad ye liked it, feel free tae hae a scrieve in Scots yersel!

Ah the best,
James Fortune.

Huilie! Ye micht kittle up twa-three non-Scottish, e'en Laich Saxon (i.e.
"Continental Sassenach"), lairners, an they wull thrapple yer leid fer ilk
ane see.

Nae baur but, James, glad ye eese Scots fer technical maitters an aw, nivver
heed Inglis lenwirds. Awbody eeses thon, in ither leids an aw. (A say
"email" in German an Laich Saxon an aw.) Gin we canna get oot o the purism
mode an oot o the ragglin ower airtifeecial neologisms, wir "minoritised"
leids wull hiv pottit heid afore aw the cabbie-labbie is soudered.
