Yes, John Trevisa probably meant well when he interceded on behalf of this
low prestige peasant language labouring under the Norman yoke in the country
next door... the road to linguistic hell is paved with both good and bad
intentions.

Never a waste of time, but perhaps a surefire method of becoming
irreversibly depressed.

Thanks for the list of far-western Slavic paternosters. The nature of the
loans from Low Saxon seems apparently arbitrary to me. Perhaps Low Saxon had
attained a status in far-western Slavic minds that Latinate languages have
to English... namely a source language for "big words"?
