Subject: LL-L Language variety/pronounciation [E]

Hi all:

A speculation that occurred to me on the subject of "route" [raut] vs [root]
discussion:
in computer science "root" has a special meaning (root user in Unix, root
directories in most operating systems), and maybe that's why the
pronounciation [rauter] for router has become common in computer circles, to
not confuse it with this "root".
It looks like a spelling pronounciation to me, as French has [root] (also
borrowed in Dutch and pronounced as /rut@/).
