??? Huh? Is this a figure of speech that I am not aware of with a suggestive
meaning, or is ist just that, in present company, the notion of not having
one's books handy is simply too horrible to fathom?

Actually, I have found the last of my cookbooks today, but not my special
cake form for "Rehrücken" - a rich, moist, chocolate cake studded with
almonds, shaped like a semi-log - so my husband's birthday tomorrow is in
jeopardy, unless I can work up the guts to bake it in rectangular shape
instead... oh, and it tastes sooo good with advocaat/Eierlikör!
