Hello Lowlanders

I read Gary's Wren and it brought back so many memories I thought I would
give it a go in South Yorkshire/Derbyshire border dialect.
The passage is written as I remember the dialect 20 years ago and my brain
cell is not so brill. I have little or no idea of phonetics so I have tried
to get the sound-feel from commonly used spellings. A comma in the middle of
a word would be a soft pause.
I am still at experiment stage for sound files but I will give it a go

Any comments/corrections/deletions feel free

Ron --- if I manage it, for the sound file would you prefer the in bracket
or out of bracket bits?

Ah, bute, Dave, ya little rippa! (And I mean this in the most respectful
Australian sense.) Ace!

As for the parenthecized alternatives, I defer to you and to other English
people on the List as to what would be more appropriate. In actual fact, I
would see nothing wrong with displaying two versions, unless you think the
"vulgarisms" are gratuitous and are not often used.

Just let me know, please.

And who, pray, will translate and record at least one version each in what
in Britain are considered Standard England English and Standard Scottish
English? And why so quiet, you Hibernians? I know you are out there trying
to fade into the woodwork ...

Cheers!
Reinhard/Ron
