Yes, I know the Swadesh list itself of course, but what I meant with
"what or who was Swadesh?" is: where does the name Swadesh come from,
Is it a famous linguist, or an abbreviation, or something else?

Thanks Ian, this answers my question. I'll fill in the Swadesh list for
the languages/dialects I know.

Ehm, is there a Swalist that can be filled in, with blank columns etc.?
I'm not so able with my PC that I can add new columns to the Lowlands list
