Op 't ende komp de veerman,
die d' aovertocht verzörgt.
Een berouwvol acsepteren,
stelt Hi'j slechts as börg.
t Leste lèvenswater,
vloeit weg in de lèvenszee.
't Schip dat brengt oe aover,
naor een nèie heilige stee.
En op die stee, mai'j rusten.
Zi'j kent daor gien geweld.
Vrèi van lasten, lusten,
die oe bi'j 't lèven zo hebt 'ekwelt.
Op 't ende komp de veerman,
Hi'j nemp oe mit an boord.
Hi'j brengt oe veilig aover,
tut an de hemelpoort.
En op die stee, woi 'j 'eloutert,
reinigt deur 't löcht.
Op die stee, heerst vrede,
't is 't ende van oen tocht...

Friedliche Ruhe, Frau Freudenthal.

Arend Victorie.

Wat een Greunen, wat een Bleuhen!
Kiek doch, wo de Sünn hüüt lacht!
   Dusend lütte, bunte Blomen
   hebbt sik opdoon öber Nacht.

   Geel sünd Bodderbloom un Primeln,
   ok bleuht al dat Kalberkruut.
Oh, wat seht uns Diek un Wischen
in ehr Bleuhkleed smuck doch ut.

Fliedig summt ok fuurts de Immen.
Sünd bi jede Bleuh to Gast.
Suugt sik vull un dreegt in'n Stock nu
   jümehr seute Nektarlast.

   Smucke Hüüs mit plegte Vörgoorns
   sünd een wohre Ogenfreid.
   Op den Heidefarst gans boben
   sitt de Dacklünen un fleit.

Un ut Hamborg koomt veel Minschen.
   Goht spazeern op unsen Diek.
Unse Küst is gor so scheun doch.
De Notur mookt uns so riek.

An de Grobens stoht de Wicheln,
   reckt de Kroon in't Hebensblau.
Freden liggt bi uns an Diek hier
fallt to Nacht gans sacht de Dau.

   On the Coast

   by Clara Kramer-Freudenthal
   (April 1993)

How it's growing! How it's blooming!
Just look how the sun is laughing!
   Thousand little, colored flowers
   Have come open overnight.

   Buttercups and primroses are yellow,
   and the chervil's blooming too.
Oh, how pretty our dike and meadows
look now in their blooming dress!

   Busily the bees come buzzing,
   visiting each flower in turn,
drinking their fill of sweet nectar
to return with the cargo to their hives.

Pretty houses with well-tended front yards
are a true feast for the eye.
On the roof ridge way up there
   sparrows are sitting and whistling.

   Many people come from Hamburg
going for walks on our dike.
Our coast is ever so lovely!
Nature gives us so much wealth!

   Willows all along the ditches
point their crowns into the sky's blue.
Peace dwells here along our dike.
Dew falls gently in the night.
