Folks,

In most dialects of Low Saxon of Germany (at least in most North Saxon
ones), we render 'to turn on (light, etc.)' as _an-maken_ ("make on"); e.g.,
_Maak dat licht on_ 'Turn on the light'.  This does usually not apply to
fire, though apparently you can use it in that context also.  It is normal
to use _an-boyten_, thus _Boyt dat vuyr an_ 'Light the fire', or
_an-steken_, thus _Steek dat vuyr an_ 'Light the fire'.

"To turn off" or "to extinguish" (also fire) is _uut-maken_ ("to make out"),
thus _Maak dat licht uut_ 'Turn off the light', _Maak dat vuyr uut_
'Extinguish the fire'.

Most Low Saxon dialects have a propensity toward using _maken_ (cognate of
"make") where others (such as the Low Franconian dialects others have
referred to) use _doun_ (cognate of "do").  However, some dialects seem to
prefer _doun_, thus _an-doun_ 'to turn on', _uut-doun_ 'to turn off', 'to
extinguish'.  This applies particularly to other verbs, like the following.

Maak de doer apen/up/op!
Dou de doer apen/up/op!
'Open the door!"

Maak de doer tou!
Dou de doer tou!
'Close/shut the door!"

This has been carried over into Missingsch and other Low-Saxon-colored
Northern German dialects, without the option of "to do" (with "better,"
"more eloquent" German equivalents here in parentheses):

Mach das Licht an!
(Schalte das Licht an!)
'Turn on the light!'

Mach das Licht aus!
(Schalte das Licht aus!)
'Turn off the light!'

Mach das Feuer an!
(Zünde das Feuer an!)
'Light the fire!'

Mach das Feuer aus!
(Lösche das Feuer!)
'Extinguish the fire!'

Mach die Tür auf!
(Öffne die Tür!)
'Open the door!'

Mach die Tür zu!
(Schließe die Tür!)
'Close/shut the door!'

In extension, all of the preposition may be used as adjectives in many of
the dialects ("better" versions here again in parentheses):

Low Saxon:
de uppe/oppe doer
(de apene/apen-maakte doer)
'the open door'

Missingsch:
die aufe Tür
(die offene Tür)
'the open door'

Low Saxon:
de toue doer
(de slatene/tou-maakte doer)
'the closed/shut door'

Missingsch:
die zue (~ zugemachte) Tür
(die geschlossene Tür)
'the closed/shut door'

Low Saxon:
dat anne radio
(dat an-maakte radio)
'the turned-on radio'

Missingsch:
das anne (~ angemachte) Radio
(das angeschaltete Radio)
'the turned-on radio'

Low Saxon:
dat uutte radio
(dat uut-maakte radio)
'the turned-off radio'

Missingsch:
das auße (~ ausgemachte) Radio
(das abgeschaltete Radio)
'the turned-off radio'

In Standard German, adjectivization of prepositions is ungrammatical,
substandard.  Probably in extension, many might argue that it is substandard
(if there were a standard) or inferior in Low Saxon as well.
