I fear Your LS _Suttje_ could make some trouble- because the LS (adv.)
_suttje_ meaning something very different: G: 'langsam', 'bedachtsam', E:
'carefully', 'circumspectically'. I guess this one cognating with E:
'soothe'.

Nope, it can't. First of all, it's not "mine" but belongs to the mentioned
"raising" dialects. Secondly, the pronunciation of the two words is very
different; at least the vowels are:

sutje (<Suttje>) ["zUtje] (with "u" as in "put") 'chimney sweep'
suutje ["zu:tje] (with "u" as in "rule" or "food") 'nice and easy', 'gently'

> I guess this one cognating with E: 'soothe'.

Nope again. It's derived from Dutch _zoetjes_ ["zutj at s] 'nice and easy',
'gently', from _zoet_ 'sweet' (cf. LS _soyt_ [z9It]). (Cf., French
_doucement_ 'nice and easy', 'gently', from _douce_ 'sweet')

(Unlike most Low Saxon varieties, Dutch makes abundant use of diminutive
forms of adjectives and adverbs.)

I strongly suspect another two words to be Dutch loans that have made their
way quite far east:

butje (<Buttje>) (cf. Dutch _botje_) "little butt (fish)" = 'little boy',
'urchin', 'squirt'

bontje (<Bontje>) 'candy' (< French _bonbon_)

Regards,
Reinhard/Ron
