Mike

I understand that until a few centuries ago, the Dalmatian population
spoke a latin based language.  Some of this is still evident in family
names.  I met a fellow from Dalmatia named Marinovic, Marino being a
familiar Italian family name.  I don't know when or why they became
Croatians.

Subject: Translation

I made a foolish offer the other day, & don't trust my delivery on it. I
have been asked to Translate " The Battle of the Stones & the Trees." into
Erse. This hasn't apparently anything to do with Magh Turede. Even if this
is altogether off L-LL, I'd appreciate help.

By the way, you may be tickled, as I am, by the amount of Celtic Literature
in translation into Afrikaans. Right now I am working through the voyages of
Brendan.
