Below are some morsels for Martinmas.

However, before that, I wonder if anyone can explain why one name for this
holiday (besides Martinmas, St. Martin's Day and St. Martin's Feast) is
Hollantide.

   Merten, Merten, Merten issen gueden Mann,
   der ons gut jet geven kann,
   de Äppel on de Bieren ,
   de Nüete jon no met,
   De Fru de loppt de Trappe rup
   on bringt en Schuet voll midderraff.
   Oh wat en guede Fru is dat
   Merten rut, Merten rut, Merten rut!

Rhenish of Cologne:

Remember that this is our Franz Firla's time of year, because he
researches its song tradition.  So please donate Martinmas verses,
especially those that allude to a bird.

Martinmas is also an important time marker in metereological folk
traditions, as seen below:

England:

   If ducks do slide at Hollantide
   At Christmas they will swim.
   If ducks do swim at Hollantide
   At Christmas they will slide.
   Winter is on his way
   At St. Martin's Day.

Scottish Highlands:

   Foghar gu Nollaig
   Is geamhradh gu Féill Pà draig,
   Earrach gu Féill Peadair,
   Samhradh gu Féill Mà rtainn,
   Agus cha dig fuachd gu Earrach.

   (Autumn till Christmas,
   And winter till St. Patrick's Day,
   Spring till St. Peter's Day,
   Summer till St. Martin's Day,
   And the cold won't come till spring.)
