From: R. F. Hahn <sassisch at yahoo.com>
Subject: Anniversary

Dear Lowlanders,

The anniversary project (http://www.lowlands-l.net/anniversary/) keeps
haunting you ...

Before I get to the meat of this message, I want to make mention of another
sound file, namely our Dave's reading in the dialect of Dore at the border
of Yorkshire and Derbyshire:
http://www.lowlands-l.net/anniversary/index.php?page=s-yorkshire. I love it
and listen to it often. Too bad it's the only translation and sound file in
a dialect of Northern England so far!

Today I am asking all of you who know speakers of Papiamentu (and there
ought to be a few among our friends in the Netherlands) to pester such
people until they relent and proofread my Papiamentu translation of the wren
story, which you will find below in draft form. If you succeed in this,
please also ask the person if she or he wishes to have her or his name
mentioned, and you might as well try and persuade them to come up with a
sound recording.

Papiamentu is a Romance-based creole of Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao. It is
of special interest to us because it has been influenced rather noticeably
by Dutch, lately also by English.

Please write to me if you have any question.

Bij voorbaat bedankt!
Reinhard/Ron

P.S.: There *are* some sorts of wrens (Troglodytes) on the said islands. But
I can not find a Papiamentu name for any of them. Can anyone help?
