From: R. F. Hahn <lowlands-l at lowlands-l.net>
Subject: Architecture

Folks,

Recently we -- mostly Heather, Jonny and I -- talked about gable designs and
mentioned Olland (Dat Ole Land, Das Alte Land) on the western border between
Hamburg and Lower Saxony, an area founded by immigrants from the Netherlands
a long time ago. This also happens to be the oft-mentioned home region of
Clara Kramer-Freudenthal. (Map:
http://www.kolping-steinheim.de/Fahrrad/altes%20land.htm)

Those of you who are interested might like to check out the following
picture presentations offering glimpses of the traditional local
architecture and more:

At the bottom, there is a link to a commercial site
(http://www.fred-lang.de/tuerenpo.htm) illustrating characteristic front
door designs.

Enjoy!
Reinhard/Ron
