Haai almal,

Theo Homan skryf:
No, it is the other way round. neuk - was originally push / bump / knock /
hit.
So the meaning 'to copulate' possibly is from after the dutch emigration to
South Africa.
Volgens my etimologiese bron, (Boshoff en Nienaber), is 'neuk' platvloers
maar sonder
die seksuele konnotasie, en wel (volgens Kiliaen, C "Etymologicum" (1599 en
1777) uit
M.Ndl. 'neuken' wat 'futuere' of 'coire' sou beteken.
Foeter in Afrikaans beteken huidiglik 'slaan' (platvloers) 'peuter' en 'lol'
eerder as 'kopuleer', soos in:
'Wat foeter jy nou met die kar se draadwerk? of 'Ek foeter jou as jy die
hond weer skop!'
Groete,
Elsie Zinsser

Hi, Elsie, Theo and Ron,

about LS: 'nuecksch":

Elsie:
> nuk - obstinate
> nukkerig - as in LS "upsternaatsch"
> neuk - to hit (originally to copulate),
> nok - corner (nook),
> beneuk -moody/uneven temper.
Wow- isn't it possible? Over there at ZA there are even more derivations
than here.
We still have
> neuk - to hit (originally to copulate),
> nok - corner (nook),
and then Noeck: a kind of male 'Udine', with some bad power, like 'Faun'.

Theo:
> So the meaning 'to copulate' possibly is from after the dutch emigration
> to South Africa.
I don't think so, Theo, because it's still used here in Germany (LS).

Ronnie, my dear!
