Beste Reinhard,

Du schreyvst:

> In Manx, traditionally, _Yn Ollynn_ or _Yn Ollan_ are the words for "the
> Netherlands" and _Ollanish_ the name for the language.

Haarst Du dat ne all eyder mol vertell'n kunnt ;-)??? Nu weyt ick ouk, wosou Du
de Noom G: 'Altes Land' (it would be translated from G into E: 'Old Land', but
re-founded and re-settled by Dutch settlers = 'Hollanders' mainly after the
Westphalian Peace of A.D. 1648) juemmer as LS: _Olland_ bruken deyhst!! Kloor!
Haar ick all lang suelbst opp komen muesst. Man- wii Kehdingers un Hodelners (uut
de Noberschapp) seggt LS 'Oulet Land', un de Ollanders suelbst seggt foer G:
'alt', E: 'old' ouk 'oul'.

Dat is juest sou as mit G: 'Krautsand', LS: 'Kruutsand', (E: 'Krautsand' *g*!)
wat anners nix weyr as (Middel-)Neddersassisch 'De kroute/groute Sand', E: 'The
Big Sand' (an island in the Elbe River).

Kumpelmenten!

Subject: Names

Jonny,

Ik dou 't so noemen wyl dat de Ollanders dat sülven so noemen dout. Offytschell
heytt dat "Dat Olde Land" (Dat Ole Land) or "Oldet Land" (Olet Land), man de
aldagsnaam is "Olland", un de Minschen noemt sik "Ollanders" (Ollanners). Ik hev
't ook buten Olland so hoyrd.

Kumpelmenten,
Reinhard/Ron
