From: R. F. Hahn [sassisch at yahoo.com]
Subject: Music

Written by Zarko Jovanović in 1969, a Romani song came to be adopted as the
anthem of all Roma at the First World Romani Congress in London, England, April
8, 1971. Not only is it sung in various dialectical versions but some versions
also have changed or added lyrics.

Please find one of the basic versions below, followed by my English translation.

You can listen to some versions here:

English (R. F. Hahn):

   ROMA ANTHEM

   Roving, roving, a long road,
   I've encountered happy Roma.
Oh, Roma folk, where are you from
With tents so merry on the road?

   Oh, Roma!
   Oh, fellows!

I, too, had a big family one time -
   The black legion murdered all.
Come along, Roma of the world!
Let's be on our Roma road!
This is the time for us to rise,
For action to uplift us all.

   Oh, Roma!
   Oh, fellows!
