Subject: Resources

Dear Lowlanders,

Those of you interested in Low Saxon (Low German) might like to check out
a new online resources for the dialect(s) of the Lippe region.

Lippe is a district situated at the eastern end of the German state of
North Rhine-Westphalia, thus touching on the state of Lower Saxony. What
makes these dialects particularly interesting is that they lie at border
of the Westphalian and Eastphalian dialect groups, appear to have features
of both. They abound with weird and wonderful diphthongs where North
Saxon dialects tend to have monophthongs; e.g., L /iu/ = NS /üü/.

The web production is in German and in Low Saxon, officially for children
but useful for adults as well. It comes with a dictionary.

Reinhard/Ron
