Dear colleagues

It gives me great pleasure to accounce that the joint conference of
the Linguistics Society of South Africa, South African Association for
Applied Language Studies and South African Association for Language
Teaching will be hosted on the Potchefstroom Campus of the North-West
University, the dates are provisionally set for 4-6 July 2007.  More
detail about the conference themes and keynote speakers, as well as a
first call for papers will follow during the course of November.  At
this early stage, I would already like to invite members to think of
theme sessions and submit ideas or proposals for sessions lasting half
a day or a full day.  There is already some interest for a
pre-conference workshop on machine translation and other potential
workshops will be most welcome.  The days leading up to the
conference, and particularly 2-3 July are reserved for such workshops.

Please send this to your membership and all other interested parties.

Beste kollegas

Dit is met genoeë dat ek kan aankondig dat die gesamentlike kongres
van die Linguistevereniging van Suid-Afrika, die Suid-Afrikaanse
Vereniging vir Taalonderrig en die Suid-Afrikaanse Vereniging vir
Toegepaste Taalstudie op die Potchefstroomkampus van die
Noordwes-Universiteit sal plaasvind, die voorlopige datum is 4-6 Julie
2007.  Meer besonderhede oor die kongrestema en hoofsprekers, sowel as
'n eerste oproep om referate sal deur die loop van November volg.  Op
hierdie vroeë stadium wil ek lede reeds versoek om te dink aan
temasessies en idees vir sessie wat 'n halwe of hele dag sal duur,
voor te stel.  Daar is reeds definitiewe belangstelling vir 'n
werkswinkel oor masjienvertaling en ander moontlike werkswinkels sal
ook welkom wees.  Die dae voorafgaande aan die kongres, veral 2-3
Julie, word vir sodanige werkswinkels gereserveer.

Stuur hierdie boodskap asseblief aan die lede van die organisasie en
alle ander belangstellendes.

Ons sien daarna uit om u by die Noordwes-Universiteit te verwelkom!
