The following appears in the Minutes of an old Edinburgh Society....

>" Vltimo. July 1599. The qlk day"

"qlk" is obviously an abbreviation but for what ?

Dear Tom,

I have found an article "Essays on James" and it uses the abbreviation 'qlk'
for 'Material of Luke', other abbreviation for example 'qmk' for 'Material
of Mark' or 'qmt' for 'Material of Mathew'. Maybe it is one explanation.

Below please find a small extract:
"Compare this to come Q material in Luke 6:20, "blessed are you who are
poor, for yours is the kingdom of God." QMk and QLk originate from the same
source, each becoming differentiated by the addition of each respective
author's own material. Take note these three sources contain similar
material not found elsewhere in the New Testament and all theorized as
working from the same original source."

Hey, Tom!

Say, is there any possibility of "qlk" standing for something like
"unspecified," in *whilk* case it would be based on one of the old ways of
spelling *whilk* (*quhillk(e), qvhilk, quhylk, qwhilk(e), qwhylk, quhilque,
qhuilk, qhuylk, qhwylk, qhilk, quilk, quylk, qwilk(e), qwylk(e), qvylk(e),
quihilk, whilk(e), vhilk, quhelk, qwhelk, qhuelk, quholk*)?

This idea came to me because of the following word: *day*.

Alternatively, someone had a problem reading the old handwriting or fracture
print, and what it really says is "9th" ... ;-)
