Other expressions in German are:

1. jwd (spoken "jotwedee"), derived from Berlinerisch "janz weit draußen" =
"very far outside (the city)", e.g. "Du wohnst ja jwd!"

2. "Hintertupfingen" for a small, insignificant village anywhere where you
never get,

3. Rather vulgar, but very expressive: "Am Arsch der Welt".

PS: I was surprised to read that in 1911, "une semaine anglaise" (an
English week) was used to describe a working week, with days of only 5
working hours and a free weekend.
