Hi all,

... and don't forget Dutch "paddestoel", exactly the same meaning.
Does "stoel" mean "Schiet" in Dutch as well? I know it does in German,
though it sounds a little old-fashioned these days.

Would the name of the chain store "Poggenpohl" be "Froschteich" then?

Ja, „Pogg" wardt mit „ch" uutspraken un „Poggen" mit „g", wiel dat dat
phoneemsch /pog/ is. Dat deit ook hier gellen: „Brügg" und „Brüggen". 'n
Barg Mischen schrieft de Eentallsformen „Poch" un „Brüch" ... vun wägen
„phoneetsch" schrieven. ;-)

„Poggenstohl"? Ja, kiek maal: dat Ingelsche hett *toadstool *för de giftigen
Aarden. Düsse „Stohl" un *stool *bedüüdt schients "Stohl" in'n Sinn vun
„Schiet".
