Subject: Language diversity

Dear Lowlanders,

It is not often that news about language diversity hits the popular media.
Sadly, when it does happen, it tends to about language death.

Although the currently reported case is not directly related to the Lowlands
sphere, it illustrates what happens in such cases. It concerns the recent
death of Boa Sr, apparently the last speaker of the Bo language of the Great
Andaman Islands, which belong to India.

Please note that in the CNN report (with video) the death of the language is
assumed to be the death of the "tribe" (by which I take it they mean
"ethnicity"):

Although rather brief as well, a relevant article by the BBC is a little
more sophisticated, not surprisingly:

The Bo language is a member of the Great Andaman group of languages, a
branch of an assume Andamanese family.
