Ron,

I must be dense, because I don't follow you at one point and don't see the
problem and another.

> But, of course, this would require Lowlands-L members to take advantage of
their networking opportunities more than most of them do now.

Could you please explain?

> And there would be international legal issues, such as those related to
contract and safety (to filter out the baddies, not that we should have too
many of those), which you could address better than most of the rest of us.

If within the network of the LL members who know each other for years now,
and if on invitation (as concerns the visa support), what's the problem?
Esp. as concerns contract?

I though this arrangement would resolve, apart from teaching, the cost of
stay (accomodation and meals). Kids (if we are talking about kids) must
be in their teen at least to travel alone.

(As concerns my own kids, they are 49, 39 and 4, so none of them qualify.
Grandchildren, perhaps, who are in Japan and America. :-))

Regards,

Vlad Lee

Vlad,

I was “alluding” to the fact that only a minority of Lowlands-L members
participate in discussions and other activities and this way become known to
other members, thus taking advantage of opportunities to network and build
trusting relationships.

Most members are silent and thus anonymous (“known” only to the
administrators, all of whom are obligated to protect their identity as long
as those members choose to be anonymous by being “silent”). Of course, they
could contact known members privately. But I guess this would require more
time and effort with regard to building trust.

Mailing-List, Website, projects, Facebook, Twitter, now a children exchange
program -- is LL-L growing into a parallel universe? It's all very well, but
I see no need for this -- I love the mailing list, it has my unfragmented
attention; I all but ignore the rest, as I suppose many do -- like most of
us I have a life besides. But most of all: *Do not leave it all for Ron to
organize!!* Let the next proposal for new LL-L features come with a full
offer to take *all the work* on yourselves!!!

Hartlich & a bit apprehensive

I thought it could be a great idea to swap kids within LL for summer, free
of charge, for language learning/training purposes. :)
What do the other Lowlanders think?

Thanks, Marlou!

I would definitely *not* take on such a task myself. If people wanted to do
this, it would be entirely up to them to arrange it outside the List.

I was just bouncing thoughts and ideas around in response to Vlad's
suggestion.

I truly appreciate your sentiments.
